Ozgur Tufekci is Associate Professor of International Relations at Karadeniz Technical University, Turkey. He is also the founder and Director-General of CESRAN International, a UK-based think-tank (www.cesran.org), ranked among the world’s “Best Independent Think Tanks” and “Top Environment Policy Think Tanks”.
He holds MA on International Studies from the University of Sheffield, UK and PhD on Sociology and International Relations from Coventry University, UK. His primary research interests are [Turkish] Eurasianism, Nation-Building, Theories of Nationalism, Geopolitical Studies, Rising Powers and Regionalism. Currently, he is teaching at undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels, focusing on methodological foundations of regionalism, rising powers and nationalism.
Among his most recent publications are “The Liberal Peacebuilding in Sierra Leone: A Critical Exploration” (in Journal of Asian and African Studies, 2018, with Idrissa Tamba Bindi), “Turkey-Azerbaijan Relations after July 15: Path dependent expectations, solidarity and cooperation” (Caucasus International, 2017, with Husrev Tabak). He also published one monograph: “The Foreign Policy of Modern Turkey: Power and the Ideology of Eurasianism” (I.B. Tauris, 2017) and co-edited “Domestic and Regional Uncertainties in the New Turkey” (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2017, with Alessia Chiriatti and Husrev Tabak) and “Eurasian Politics and Society: Issues and Challenges” (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2017, with Husrev Tabak, Erman Akilli).
He is the Editor-in-Chief of The Rest: Journal of Politics and Development (www.therestjournal.com), tri-annual, peer-reviewed journal and he serves as reviewer for a number of international peer-reviewed journals, as well.
He received a nomination for the Education UK Alumni Awards of British Council for his entrepreneurial activities in 2016. He also received the Outstanding Researcher Award of Karadeniz Technical University, Turkey in 2018.
